WORKING CLASS:Here the framing represents a lot about the
working class. They are all positioned in a sense that they are not together.
They are standing in different directions and don’t show a sense of family
unity and a good bond. The shot type suggests that they are together as a
family. Their costumes/clothes appear to be cheap and too big for them. The mum
and daughter have similar coats which could show that the working class family
is like a cycle and that the young girl will grow up to be just like her mum.
The setting seems to be very untidy with bins in the background and dying trees
showing that this is the typical place a working class family would be. Working
class families are represented as the parents being quite young and this photo
reinforces this as the mum doesn’t look old and the oldest daughter is almost
acting as a make shift dad holding the other child. This shows that the mum
gave birth at a young age representing the working class as reckless and
promiscuous. There is no dad around showing that the family is unstable. On the
subject of dads, this picture clearly shows that the mum has had children with
more than one man because she is carrying a mix raced child while her other
white children stand by her.
ETHNICITY:
Here is a mid-shot; it is capturing the attire and costume of the people. The position of the black man is subverting the stereotype that ethnic minorities are lower than white British people. He is positioned at the front looking as if he is leading the movement and the other white British people are at the back out of focus. As a police officer wearing your own clothes is considered a mark of your ability in the job. So the fact that the black man is in his own clothes and white British men are not goes against the stereotype that ethnic minority are lesser.
